Who are we?
We are NSA STRIDES Alliance, we are a project based in the grounds at the rear of Sandfields Comprehensive School. We provide confidence building and support to help you to gain basic skills and qualifications.
What Qualifications do we provide?
OCN’s – Open College Network.
These are bite size taster sessions enabling you to gain basic qualifications in hair and beauty. You can use these qualifications as stepping stones to help into further education, to help secure a work placement or permanent employment.
OCN’s show the colleges and employees that you have a basic understanding of the hair and beauty industry and will be an advantage when applying for college or employment. Even if you are not ready for employment come along, meet new friends and get pampered!
How long is the course?
The length of the course can vary between 6-8weeks enabling you to learn at your own pace, extra support is available if needed.
What does a typical Hair & Beauty Taster Course consist of?
There are many options that you can choose from:
- Make-up application
- Facials
- Manicures
- Blow-drying and Hair styling
What do I do at the end of the course?
After your course is complete we will forward you on to our NSA employment team where you will receive support and advice to find employment or go onto further education.

A brilliant course to take if you are interested in the hair and beauty world.
